Open Rank Clinical Faculty / AU.D. Program Director in Audiology

ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF HEALTH SOLUTIONS

The College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University invites applicants to join an active and growing Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program. We are seeking a clinical faculty at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor with an administrative role of AuD academic program director for a 12-month, full time, non-tenure position in the Doctor of Audiology Program. Incoming rank will be determined based on prior experience. The anticipated start date for this appointment is March 15, 2021. This is a fixed-term appointment that is renewable annually and subsequent one-year appointments will be offered, under the same terms and conditions, at the discretion of the college and university.

Responsibilities include providing a variety of diagnostic and rehabilitative services to patients, supervising AuD students in our in-house clinic, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Audiology or related topics, and participating in clinic/program service activities in the development and/or expansion of services within the clinic in the AuD program. As program director, responsibilities include overseeing accredited graduate degree program (AuD), accreditation process ensuring accreditation requirements. Other administrative duties include implementation of student assessment processes, execution of admissions functions, and mentorship of students. In addition, the selected individual will participate in clinic/program service activities in the development and/or expansion of services within the AuD program. He/she will work closely with clinic director to ensure academic training mission of the clinic is fulfilled.

Building upon the nationally ranked program’s reputation, the new Program Director will work with other leaders within Speech and Hearing Science (SHS) and the College to redesign and transform the AuD program to align with future goals of the college within the realm of teaching, research and clinical practice. This work will involve the creation of a collaborative strategic plan which will incorporate the areas of excellence within SHS (neurosciences, language and literacy, hearing science and technology).

This position will work with faculty across the college to address our Grand Challenges, complex and difficult health problems which require transformative collaboration, translational research and innovation. Through teaching, academic programs, service and research, the college is focused on these Grand Challenges: Addressing the systems of health care and the health needs of populations, and optimizing health and human performance of individuals across the lifespan. We are particularly interested in making an impact on populations with significant health disparities.

This highly ranked program in Audiology offers students a range of clinical and research opportunities as well as training that lead to an AuD and/or PhD degree. The AuD program is housed in a state-of-the-art facility on the main campus of ASU in Tempe Arizona.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • AuD or PhD in Audiology from an accredited program and university
  • Eligible for audiology licensure in Arizona
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience, post-graduation from doctoral program in audiology that includes direct clinical service appropriate for rank
  • University and/or clinical teaching experience
  • Academic administrative experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of students, colleagues, and staff

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • Experience with accreditation process
  • Experience with strategic planning and education transformation
  • Working knowledge of ASHA and CAPCSD professional competencies and standards
  • Interest in neurosciences/neurodiagnostics, amplification, aural rehabilitation
  • Experience providing bilingual services, Spanish/English preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners
